I have basically just avoided my blog this month. Usually, if not posting, I am at least checking in randomly to read any new comments there might be. But not this month, I just wasn't in the mood for blogging or posting or checking my blog to see how long it had been since my last post!
But then tonight... tonight I feel like writing something.
Because yesterday we were invited out to our friends for Grey Cup.
And it was the best Grey Cup party I have ever been to.
Firstly, because we didn't sit and watch football
And secondly, because I actually got to sit, pretty much the whole time, at the kitchen table and enjoy playing the games with the other adults.
And wait for it... wait for it... my kids were there... in the same house... with us... and AWAKE! And for the majority of the time there was NOT a child sitting on my lap grabbing at the boardgame pieces or whining for me to get them something.
IT WAS SO FREAKING ENJOYABLE I AM GOING TO LEAVE THE WORD 'FREAKING' IN THIS POST WHEN I HIT PUBLISH!
...There was one instants where Tristan told me he had to poop and then about 1/2 hour later one of the other kids asked where Tristan was and I was like 'I don't know, I've just been sitting here, at this table the whole time, utterly ENJOYING myself. No, I don't know where Tristan is!'
And then... oh poop, yes I do know where Tristan is.
And the poor guy was still sitting on the toilet, by this point crying, about the quietest cry in the world, as the bathroom was not that far from the kitchen table. It's like the kid was just trying to make me feel guilty for enjoying myself.
But it didn't work... because boy you are 4 1/2 years old, it's probably about time you started wiping your own bum! And now I am just curious... how long is he gonna sit there before he just sucks it up and takes over the toileting situation on his own?!!!...
But aside from that one small hiccup... BEST FRIENDS GET TOGETHER; WITH OUR CHILDREN THERE, I HAVE BEEN TO SINCE BIRTHING TWINS... POSSIBLY SINCE THE BIRTH OF OUR FIRST CHILD!
(Oh wait, I suppose that was a little unnecessary to write, as a friends get together before having children would have obviously not included us having children along with us.
But I am leaving it... because tonight I am loving the caps lock button.
And the ... button as well! And really it beats any get together in our pre-kid era because it almost felt like our pre-kid era but our kids were there! So that's just AMAZING. Maybe soon we will be rounding the corner to the moment when we can look back on these first 3 years of the twins lives and say: yup, those years are just a hazy blur but we made it through! We actually made it! Right Clayton?! We are almost there... right????!!! ;)
So, thanks to the teams involved in the Grey Cup... whom ever you might have been:
BEST GREY CUP PARTY EVER!
